Parkop on Protest March

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

A formal letter is yet to be received by the National Capital District Governor on the proposed protest march tomorrow Tuesday 27 October.

Governor Powes Parkop says there has been a request given to police but he has not sighted the letter.

He has called on activist Noel Anjo to conduct the protest march in an appropriate manner.

Freedom of expression is guaranteed under the constitution, but it must come with social responsibility.

“I want the people to understand that the constitution also calls for social responsibility but many times the focus is on rights and freedom.”

Parkop says, unfortunately for Mr. Anjo, he likes to be a character that wants to get the limelight which is his prime motive.

The protest march to be organised by the people’s movement for change surrounds the Vote of No Confidence and other issues.
