Parents of Victim Assaulted by Soldiers Want Justice

by Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Parents of Jeremiah Yinu have filed a formal complaint with police homicide for investigations to begin into their son’s plight.

They have also called on the Papua New Guinea Defence hierarchy to conduct investigations and have those soldiers arrested.

Jeremiah has still not come out of his coma but his parents are hoping he will make it through.

Distraught and in disbelief Jeremiah’s mother is still trying to come to terms with her son’s condition.

She says, her son does not deserve to be put through this ordeal.

Jeremiah’s condition still remains the same, but his parents are confident of a full recovery.

But what worries his father, Thomas Yinu, is the long road to rehabilitation and the costs involved.

He says, PNGDF must take ownership to assist the family through this.

Yesterday, a formal complaint was lodged with the police homicide to take up Jeremiah’s case.

Justice for Jeremiah is what the family wants and will cooperate with all relevant authorities to achieve this.
