Paradise High School Students Hear Inmates Share Experience On Drug and Alcohol Abuse

by Marie Kauna – EMTV Online, Port Moresby

Paradise High School was part of a group of high schools in NCD who attended a talk given by juvenile inmates from Bomana jail, about drug and alcohol abuse.

The program is an initiative taken by the National Youth Development Authority for juvenile inmates to share their experiences on drug and alcohol consumption and its effects to peers.

The program that began last week, had seen the group visit schools within NCD, starting with Koiari Park High.

The students had open discussions with the inmates. They asked questions relating to alcohol and drug use and how it contributed to them becoming imprisoned.

The program will continue tomorrow and will end this Friday.

Student attendees were grateful for the information shared to make vital decisions on lifelong habits.
