The newly appointed Justice and Attorney General Minister, Ano Pala, formally moved into office yesterday.
A formal hand-over takeover ceremony was held in Port Moresby, to witness ousted Minister, Kerenga Kua, handing over his position to Mr. Pala.
In the ceremony, Mr. Pala announced that he will continue from where Mr. Kua has left.
The hand-over takeover ceremony was witnessed by Justice Secretary Doctor Lawrence Kalinoe, senior staff of the Justice and Attorney General’s department, and the media.
At the conference, Mr. Pala announced that he will pick up from where Mr. Kua has left off and will continue to serve the department.
He said the department must be protected, as it demonstrates the foundation for democracy in our country.
Mr. Pala also declared to the department’s staff that despite both MPs having their own political interests in parliament, he will make sure their professionalism is protected.
Outgoing Minister Kerenga Kua said although he has left the chair, he is just a phone call away if assistance is needed.
Mr. Kua was decommissioned from his portfolio following the recent political debate on changes to sections of the constitution in relation to vote of no confidence.
This will be the second time the new Minister will head this Ministry.
