Pacific Games Monuments

Among all the dignitaries, the humble Naomi Polum had the honor to unveil her memento in front of the Vision City Mega Mall in Port Moresby today.

The 1969 South Pacific Games 400 Meters Silver Medalist was privileged to be acknowledged as a Sports Legend.

She may not be known to most of us but, Naomi Polum was one of PNG’s Track Queens of the 1960s and 70s.

Her love for athletics has led her to a Coaching career, grooming and molding young athletes.

Our sporting legends have faded as time passed, but with the Pacific Games to be hosted in Port Moresby again, our younger generation will have the chance to live those days and share the experience with our sporting heroes.

Sharing her memento is Barbra Sapea, a track queen and Gold Medalist in the 400m Women’s relay team in the 1983 South Pacific Games in Samoa.

The Sporting mementoes will rotate every 3 months to cater for all Sports Heroes and Legends and will also accommodate for any diplomatic visits.
