Oro Darts Association Preps for National Club Championships

The Oro Darts Association (ODA) is gearing up for the National Club Championship to be held later this year.

The association has started its pre-season competition with 14 teams taking part.

The winning team will be selected to participate in the National Club Championship.

In a rundown recreation club at the Popondetta Police Barracks, the competition is fierce.

It is here that the association hopes to cultivate the winning combination in aspiring young talents.

The pre-season is well underway with an overwhelming response from players.

President Matthew Malpaim, said they have participated in almost all national events.

This year will be no different, with preparations to send a club for the National Club Championship in Lae.

But that can only happen if the PNG Darts Federation resolves its in-house issues, he says.

The in-house issues are water under the bridge, says the Secretary General, Wilma Uiari.

A by election was held on the 11th January this year and the Federation has vowed for change.

With the new Executives, the PNG Darts Federation hopes to restore some pride in the sport, and even participate in the Pacific Games.
