O’Neill Meets French President

The first ever formal bilateral meeting between a Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea and the President of the French Republic took place yesterday in Paris, France.

Peter O’Neill said the meeting with François Hollande, was significant as PNG and France will increase economic and cultural ties through the new Papua LNG project.

Mr O’Neill said PNG has made an undertaking to welcome French professionals and instructors with welcome arms as part of the TOTAL SA-led Papua LNG Project.

He said the Papua LNG Project is going to generate 10,000 jobs in Port Moresby, and 3,000 new jobs in Gulf Province, and hundreds of French workers will come and live with us.

He thanked President Hollande for his support to PNG and Mr O’Neill looks forward to President Hollande visiting Papua New Guinea in the near future.
