Old time PNG resident as Torch Bearer

An old time PNG resident in 1980’s to early 1990’s and a person who has contributed in setting up The Sport Institute in Papua New Guinea; and the Deputy of the Organizing Committee of the 1991 South Pacific Games in Port Moresby Andy Seward has been given the honor as one of the torch bearers during the Olympic Torch Relay.

Among 147 inspirational torch bearers on Day 4, the 67year old man with Parkinson’s disease got out of his wheelchair and walked the last few paces with the help of two police security guards.

Being stricken with the disease of disorder of the central nerve system, Seward disabled himself after a lifetime of motivating and devoting his spare time to others in Sport in every community he has lived.

Andy Seward made proud all who have known him and was full of joy and appreciation for the honor.
