The Ok Tedi Landowners Royalty Investment Trust or OTLRIT for the Star Mountains people of Western Province will be a leading and model landowner trust in the country.
It was established in November 2004 after being approved by the mine’ landowners, Ok Tedi Mining Ltd, and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.
The trust will manage 20 per cent of royalties for the twelve mine villages.
The 12 mine villages are Finalbin, Korkit, Bultem, Wangbin, Migalsim, Ankit, Ok Tedi Tau, Kumkit, Kavorabip, Nioksikwi, Kawentikim and Atemkit.
