Oil Palm Production Provides Employment Opportunities For Locals

By Godwin Eki – EM TV News, Port Moresby

More local farmers and youths in Kimbe, West New Britain Province are benefiting from Oil Palm production in the province.

This has helped in alleviating the unemployment issues faced by youths in the province.

Oil Palm production in Kimbe has created employment opportunities for the youths in the community for many years now.

22-year-old Densuit Kundit says that oil palm production in the province has helped him to make a living.

Numundo Oil Palm is one such example of a company that provides employment for the villages, as well as housing for its working staff.

They also run a butcher facility where cows are processed for meat, providing more employment opportunities for Kimbe residents, as well as supplying food to local markets.

Norman Basil, a father of three, has worked as a butcher for the last 10 years and says that working as a butcher has supported his family.
