Official Complaint Yet to be Registered by Victim of ‘Condom Video’

By Theckla Gunga – EM TV News, Port Moresby

An official complaint on the condom saga incident in Port Moresby is yet to be registered with Police.

The incident involved a female victim who was forced by police officers to swallow three condoms in a police station in Port Moresby.

NCD and Central Divisional Commander Assistant Commissioner, Sylvester Kalaut, said since the incident, police have only been speaking to her relatives and despite the video showing her eating at least three condoms going viral on social media, the victim is yet to come forward.

“We have established contact with her relatives and they have promised to bring the victim in for an interview with police and for a medical check,” commander Kalaut said.

He said despite calls made by Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, the victim is yet to come forward.

It has been two weeks since the video went viral on social media.

But because there was no complaint lodged, police have not started formal investigations.

In the video uploaded to social media a fortnight ago, shows the female victim in a red round neck T-shirt with the printing American Cola, on her left chest, swallowing three condoms.

The voice of the police officer forcing her to swallow the condoms can also be heard.

Commissioner Kalaut said the video has created a bad image on the Constabulary.

He appealed to the victim and her family to come forward to police.
