Fijian Josateki Naulu has set his sights on the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Naulu was the Oceania Judo Champion in 2006 and 2012 and is currently on an International Olympic Solidarity Scholarship, and is now looking to compete in next year’s Olympic Games.
He was a part of the Fijian team competing at the London Olympics in 2012, and placed seventh at the Miami Grand Prix in 2013.
All in all, Naulu is no stranger to international Judo competition.
Competing at the 2011 Pacific Games and the 2012 Oceania Judo Championships in Cairns, he placed First in both tournaments.
As he sets his target on the Rio Olympics, he is grateful for the support of his family toward his goal of competing in Rio.
The only drawback in his quest for Rio is funding, but he is not deterred saying that “we make do with what we get” and will work around the issue.
