OO’Neill reflects on first 12 months in Government

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill appeared on radio to address a number of issues before his Government andthe Country.

 

He also reflected onthe first 12 months in office since forming government afterthe elections.

With almost 12 months in office, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill made known thatthere is a lot to do regarding service delivery.

 

Betthe government is focused to maintain stability and rebuild infrastructure and ensurethe flow of services.

 

“We have allowed health, education, law & order, infrastructure and ther necessary service to be neglected for a very very long time for many many years; so it is like rebuilding allthese systems and programs and services from ground zero,” says Prime Minister O’Neill.
 

The Prime Minister added that health and education policies have been re-aligned to rollout to districts.

 

Teacher’s welfare including new wage structure is in place to deliver.

 

Mr O’Neill also saidthe University oPNG and University of Technology will undergo a revitalization program with funding from Australia.

 

He added that K1.4 billion has been allocated bythe National Government for the repair and upgrading of health facilities acrossthe nation.

 

“The government has been slowly priorit’singthe budget and making sure that we provide funds inthese work,” said O’Neill.
 

The Manus asylum processing centre was an inevitable top issue.

 

“They are not trying to migrate to Papua New Guineathey trying to migrate to Australia. All we are doing is providingthe processing facility and taking advantage so that we can be able to use that opportunity to build our development agenda,” O’Neill said.
 

He made it clear tothe nation thatthe deal was not in secrecy and cabinet had made a decision on that.
