Prime Minister Peter O’Neill today officially opened a sub-branch of Bank South Pacific in the Ialibu district of Southern Highlands province.

Mr O’Neill urged all people to engage with the bank and take ownership of its services.

“This bank will help you to save your money and keep it safe and the bank will help you to invest in business ideas,” the Prime Minister said.

“The services provided through this BSP branch will give power to the people to develop the district economically.”

He said that Ialibu-Pangia district is developing rapidly and banking services like this are essential in saving people’s time and aiding the travelling distance to Mount Hagen or Mendi.

O’Neill also commended the people for keeping the district peaceful and allowing for development to take place.

More development will continue to take place, such as the construction of Southern University, which will bring more people and services into the district.

The Prime Minister also urged them to create a capital that would benefit them. As development is taking place, a bigger BSP Bank branch is to be established in the near future.
