The government’s argument,the Western Province has remainedthe least developed province sincethe mines started operations inthe 1980’s.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says withthe government’s takeover of OK Tedi mine, he will ensure a proper structure is drawn up to ensure mine impacted communities andthe Western Provincial governmentoget a fair distribution ofthe funds.
This will ensure thatthe funds trickle down directly tothe people.
Mr. OO’Neill says his government is looking to restructurethe funds, especially for key areas like education and health.
