NSL Round-7: Gigira defeats Oro FC 1-0

The Telikom National Soccer League kicked off its Round 7 in Port Moresby overthe weekend.

First match was betweenthe Oro FC and Gigira Laitepo andthe Eastern Stars battle it out with Welgris FC.

A huge crowd was packed atthe Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby to withness Round 7 ofthe Telikom National Soccer League.

The Mt. Hagen based Welgris FC in yellow took onthe Eastern Stars FC inthe main match.

40th minute into first half, Eastern Stars forward Kerry Rukina withthe help of his team mates came hard on Welgris scoringthe opening goal ofthe match and maintainingthe lead into half time.

Five minutes into 2nd half, Welgris responded a goal through Japeth Olow equalizingthe score.

The first match duringthe day Gigira Laitepo took on New comer Oro FC defeatingthem 1 goal to nil.

Step in Coach John Yagum has one more win before a decision can be made whther to continue coaching Laitepo.

Meanwhilethe matches in Lae and Kimbe that was scheduled for the weekend had been rescheduled to a later date.

Meantime, in anther soccer story,the Papua New GuineaUnder-20 team soccer team has wontheir final lead up match intheir preparation towardsthe qualifiers in Fiji fromthe 21st tothe 29th of this month.

PNG Albany Creek Football Club in North Beisbane, 1-nil overthe weekend.

The team travelled to Fiji yesterday to prepare for their first match against New Zealand on Thursday.
