NRL Trophy Tours Port Moresby

By Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The Provan-Summons trophy today visited a number of locations including Waigani Central and Waterfront where the public had the opportunity to have a feel of the prestigious NRL trophy.

Former Cowboy, Brent Tate, who accompanied the trophy to PNG, was blown away by the support Papua New Guineans have shown toward the cowboys and the NRL.

The arrival of the 2015 Premiership trophy on Thursday marked a historical moment for rugby league in Papua New Guinea, as part of the teams Phase 3 of the tour.

To have the trophy tour the nation’s capital will boost the number of not only the Cowboy’s fans, but the NRL as a whole.

The Premiership trophy has already travelled more than 15,000 kilometres since it settled at new home, with the Cowboys in Townsville.

The trophy will leave the PNG shores on Sunday, November 1.
