NRL Round 22 Wrap

By Dion Kombeng – EMTV Sports, Port Moresby

The table topping Brisbane Broncos suffered their second straight loss, going down to the Bulldogs by two points in Friday night football. The boys from Canterbury Bankstown held on in a thriller to give the Broncos their first loss at Lang Park since Round One of the 2015 NRL competition.

The Sea Eagles, who defeated the Broncos last week, again proved too good for their opposition in defeating the Rabbitohs 28-8. The win keeps their slim hopes of reaching the finals alive, putting them in ninth spot just two points adrift of the all important top eight.

Competitions dark horse, the Cronulla Sharks, held off a strong second half comeback from the Cowboys to jump to equal fourth on the NRL ladder after their 30-18 win over the North Queenslanders.

In other games, the New Zealand Warriors were held scoreless by the Dragons as they produced an attacking master class, blowing the Kiwis out of the water with a 36-0 win.
