Easter babies: No birth complications encountered

While Easter was peaceful in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville; bundles of joy, new babies, were welcomed into families.

Nine Easter babies were born at Buka General Hospital on this special occasion of Christianity – suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

EM TV visited the maternity ward and talked to some of those mothers who gave birth.

Joycelyn Hatani, a mother who gave birth to a beautiful daughter said that “unfortunately not all mothers give birth in such special events likes Easter.”

She was very proud, giving birth this Easter, which will always be remembered.

Buka General Hospital, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr Martin Gelo told EM TV News that this Easter period had less number of babies being born, as compared to other years.

No major complications were encountered during the deliveries.

Dr Gelo thanked the hospital’s clinical staff, especially for their effort and teamwork.

Dr Gelo also appealed to mothers to visit health facilities for medical checks, as routine clinic sessions can save many lives.
