Brother of Australian Wallabies scrumhalf, Will Genia, Nigel, has secured a contract with Baia Mare Rugby Club, the national champion club in Romania.

Nigel has been playing semi-professional football in Australia, and has represented Papua New Guinea as a junior Pukpuk at the Junior World Trophy challenge in 2009.

Now Nigel has finally broken into the international rugby circuit, and is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the European league.

Genia has lived under the shadow of older brother Will, ever since his debut for Australian Rugby.

At 23 years of age, Nigel Genia is the third brother to hit the international stage.

Nigel signed a two year contract to play for Baia Mare Rugby Club in Romania.

Baia Mare Rugby Club has been the national champion club for the last two consecutive years.

The club will be playing for qualification early in the season for the inaugural European Challenge Cup this year.

Romania is in the second tier with Argentina, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, and is among the top 20 teams in world rugby.

Nigel played for the PNG under 20s in the Junior World Trophy challenge in Russia in 2009.

He was a member of the Queensland Reds wider playing group in 2013 and 2014, and played for the Queensland Reds second stream team.

The youngest of the three Genia brothers, he was also named Reds Academy Player in 2013.
