A non-government organisation in Enga Province has received help from the government of Japan for the reconstruction of two bridges in Wapenamanda.

Warenge Komba Foundation Inc. was selected for its priorities and focus on social and economic development.

The NGO, operating as Enga province’s mouthpiece and focusing on social economic development, has benefited from Japan’s ‘Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects’.

These funds will assist with the reconstruction of two bridges, Timin and Wakiam in Wapenamanda district.

The Japan Ambassador to PNG, Morio Matsumoto and Warenge Komba Foundation Inc.’s Chairman, Matthew Taso signed the grant contract, witnessed by Wapenamanda MP and Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, Rimbink Pato.

Ambassador Matsumoto said the reconstruction of the Timin and Wakiam bridges will improve transportation networks and enhance economic development.
