New Heads of Mission Get Training to RepresenttPNG Abroad

Heads of Mission, Defence Attaches and officers ofthe Department of Foreign Affairs are attending a week of induction before being posted overseas to representthe state.


The induction program withthetheme “PNG Connect” began yesterday in Port Moresby and will run till August 30th.

These senior officers and heads of mission will have important roles in representin PNG aroundthe world.


The induction program aims at gettingthe mission heads to connect with a global world regardless ofthe challengesthey face.


Minister for Foreign Affairs Rimbink Pato saidthe induction should equip officers with tools and resources on which effective diplomacy depends.


Minister Pato added that as agents ofthe Government officers must take a pro-active approach.


Acting Secretary for Foreign Affairs William Dihm called on mission heads to commit every ounce oftheir energy to build a sustainable capacity inthe Foreign Service.


Skill enhancing programs will also take place with ther Governments,International organizations and business sectors.
