New Bishop For Anglican Diocese Port Moresby

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

The Anglican Diocese of Port Moresby has a new bishop. He is Fr Denny Bray Guka, from Ambasi in the Northern Province, where his home parish is.

Fr Denny Bray Guka was consecrated as the new bishop yesterday, at the St Martins Anglican Church in Port Moresby where he has served for seven years.

Many prominent people attended his consecration including Acting Ombudsman, Phoebe Sangetari, Governor of the Bank of Papua New Guinea, Loi Bakani, and the NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, among others.

His last posting as a priest was Chaplin at the University of Papua New Guinea.

What is significant about the consecration is that for the first time, the house of Anglican Bishops will be made up of only nationals.

Bishop Denny Bray Guka served for twenty one years before he was consecrated as a bishop and is married with four children.
