NEC approves K8 million to Independence Fellowship Scheme

NEC has approved an annual grant of K8 million to support the administration of the Independence Fellowship Scheme over the next 5 years.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said the Scheme aims to empower rural Papua New Guineans by facilitating skills development training opportunities that will encourage them to participate in income earning activities.

He said the program will also produce a talented and skilled workforce who can meet the growing demands of the mining and petroleum sectors.

The Independence Fellowship Scheme will be coordinated under the Medium Term Development Program 2013 to 2017.
