Nawaeb unveils bold five year development plan

The Nawaeb district has unveiled a bold five year development plan with a strong emphasis on transport infrastructure development.

Betthe 300 million kina plan has a 250 million kina funding gap thatthe district hopes to fill through assistance from donor partners andthe national government.
 

The people were happy to see government bring back services tothe region.

 

Also present for the commissioning werethe Governor Joe Lera and South Bougainville MP and Bougainville Affairs Minister Steven Pirika Kama.

 

The two buildings atthe Bein station are for officers from BeA andthPNG Customs.

 

The two government agencies will work closely with local authorities to capture strategic areas in order to protect our country and resources.

 

They will also focus on developing human capital, trade and investment opportunities for the border communities.

 

The agencies have set up permanently inthe region to effectively stabilize, control and manage moverment of people, goods and services intothe islands of Bougainville.

 

Overthe yearsthere has been growing concerns on Beo Security Control and Illegal Human Trafficking.

 

The KANGU border post on Bougainville and WEAM Berder Post inthe Western Province is next in line to be commissioned.
