The final results ofthe 2011 National Population and Housing Census is now inthe air followingthe closure ofthe National Statistical Office.
NSO Staff have been locked out for over a week over rentals and it is still uncertain whtherthe situation will be resolved soon.
For over a week now, guards had been manningthe locked entrance while staffs and even National Statistician Joseph Aka and ther senior Officer wait meters away outside ofthe office.
Refusing to talk on camera, Mr Aka saidthe building was locked off bythe landlord over two offices adjacent tothe main buildings.
Mr Aka said this is not true and thatthe construction ofthe offices had compllied with all required processes.
Meanwhile, the situation has affectedthe processing of data fromthe 2011 national census. Andthe two buildings in question are where census data processing takes place.
The longerthe situation remains, the longer it will take to preparethe final results ofthe last census.
This information is vital as it is used bythe National Government for planning purposes.
