Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development, Delilah Gore, today announced the endorsement of the National Lukautim Pikinini Bill 2015.
Minister Gore said the bill basically protects children rights with emphasis on parental responsibility.
She says, the bill serves the purpose to give children equal rights and opportunities.
Minister Gore says, in all actions and decisions, the bill will be an Act to serve and protect a child’s identity.
NEC’s decision also directs the Community Development Agencies and Personal Management to establish Office for Child and Family Services.
The Bill outlines the care of a child but also maintains a close relationship with others.
Meanwhile, Department Secretary, Anna Solomon, strongly emphasised that the bill is not to encourage orphanage.
The bill will be pushed through by minister Gore come the next parliament sitting. The bill was passed by the National Executive Council earlier this month.
