National Football Stadium Ready to Host Rugby League World Cup

The National Football Stadium will host three PNG Kumuls matches in October this year.  The venue was confirmed to be used by the Rugby League World Cup 2017 Committee during the World Cup.

Chairman of the NFS Trustee, Peter Botten, says the venue will be ready for the Kumuls when they host the three pool matches later this year.

There are talks about increasing the sitting capacity but that is yet to be confirmed.

Rugby League World Cup 2017-General Manager Commercial and Marketing, Rohan Sawyer says the National Football Stadium is a world class venue, and is able to host the World Cup matches.

The Kumuls will play Wales on the 28th of October, Ireland on the 5th of November, and the United States on the 12th of November. Also during the year the NFS will play host to all Hunters home matches, the Kumuls’ friendly match against France, and the Prime Ministers XIII match.
