National Capital: Christmas Operation Report

Police have reported a quiet festive season operations this Christmas and commendedthe urban community for making this happen.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bewa said this while providing an update ofthe police operations to EMTV today.

 

With a single fatal suicidal case was reported.

 

Compared to previous Christmas seasons, Metropolitan SuperintendentoAndy Bewa, said this Christmas was more quiet and peaceful.

 

He said only 2 death cases were reported – One of a Nepalese man who committed suicide in his Hotel Room at Airways Hotel andthe ther one of an eleven year old boy who was electrocuted in Gerehu after he walked over a fallen power line.

 

Mr Bewa saidthe suicide case is now being investigated andthe reason will be established afterthe completion ofthe investigations.

 

He also said a number of raids were conducted on liquor shops and 235 cartons of beer were confiscated by police as part ofthe operations.

 

19’s uspects, including 2 females, were arrested and charged for drinking in public places and four thers arrested and charged for selling beer illegally.

 

He said one rape case was reported atthe East Beroko suburb andthe suspect arrested and charged.

 

He futher said a policeman from Six Mile Police Station was also arrested and charged for assaulting his wife while underthe influence of liquor.

 

He reported a quiet Christmas and commendedthe police, including members ofthe Australian Federal Police andthe communities for behaving well this festive season.

 

He urged everyone to continue this intothe New Year.

 

He said Police will continuetheir operations intothe New Year, and called on residents to keeptheir streets clean and not to burn tyres,breakottles and dump waste and debris ontheir streets asthey will be tasked to cleanthem up.

 

Police will patrol streets to ensure New Year celebrations are observed in a peaceful manner.
