Motu Koita’s petitions Government: Give backLand

The Motu Koita people have warned that any force or authority to removertheir land rights will add fuel to fire.

This is in relation tothe compulsory land acquisition ofthe Sir Hubert Murray Stadium bythe State.

The state made a recent decision to acquirethe stadium. On Monday last week, an eviction notice was issued.

Motu Koitabu Assembly Chairman Miria Ikupu saidthe plight ofthe Motu Koita people continues to this day with outstanding land related issues.

The Sir Hubert Murray Stadium land acquisition has hikedthe Motu Koita people who claimedthey’ve been treated un-fairly and marginalized.

The Motu Koita people petitioned Prime Minister Peter O’Neill andthe state demandingthe national government to reverse its decision and givethe land back.

Establish proper dialogue and discussion directthe NCDC to immediately releasethe outstanding grants and funds, compensate landowners, and protect and respecttheir rights and interest.
