Morning Star Flag to be Raised on PNG Soil

The silent fight to free West Papua fromIndonesian rule continues. This time a flag raising ceremony ofthe morning star flag is expected to be staged on December 1.

It will bethe first time such a symbolic gesture has been made oPNG’soil.

Organizers are also envisioningthe raising ofthPNG Flag inthe city of Sorong atthe far end of West Papua.

Benny Wenda is a West Papua Exile. Jailed and banished from his homeland after he raisedthe morning star flag.

He was later granted political asylum inthe United Kingdom and has been livingthere for the past 10 years.

He has been instrumental in lobbying for West Papua campaign offices in various countries includingthe Ntherlands and Australia.

Papua New Guineais next on his list; an office space is expected to be launched onthe first of December at City hall in Port Moresby.

He says although his spoken aboutthe plight of West Papuans in many parts ofthe world, inthe end he believes it’s Papua New Guineathat can truly pavethe way forIndependence.

The Organisers saythe December 1st Flag raising ofthe Morning Star flag oPNG Soil is inthe interest of Peace and Stability.

They urgeIndonesia not to feel insecure.
