The number of children living onthe streets of Lae is growing every year.
Fther Arnold Scmitt ofthe Street Children Care Center has raised concerns sayingthey arethe root cause of crime and lawlessness in Lae.
He says many ofthese children were forced to become petty criminals because of lack of well-established family unit and public ignorance.
Most ofthe children choosethe easy way round by committing crime to escapetheir inability to survivethe urban poverty.
