Miss PNG set for 30th Pacific Islands Pageant

Miss Pacific Islands, Abigail Havora, and Miss Papua New Guinea, Kellyanne Limbiye, are all set for the annual Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.

The 30th Annual Miss Pacific Islands Pageant will be held from 27 November – 2 December 2016, at the Home of the pageant, Apia, Samoa.

It is at this event that the reigning Miss Pacific Islands, Abigail Havora, will hand over her crown to the new Pacific queen during crowning night on Friday December 2.

Eight Pacific Island beauties will contest to be the region’s cultural ambassador including host Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Nauru, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Fiji.

23-year old Political Science student, Kellyanne Limbiye, said she will do her best and proudly wear the red, black and gold colours.

With only one week left of her reign as Queen of the Pacific, Abigail, now striving for her second Bachelors Degree as a medical student, said the journey has been nothing but enriching.

Chairperson for the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG, Katherine Johnston, thanked Abigail for making PNG proud as the country’s first crowned Miss Pacific Islands. She said Abigail raised the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG to its highest point.

Deputy Chairperson for the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG and Chaperone for Miss Pacific Islands,
Molly O’Rourke, said when Abigail was crowned in the Cook Islands in 2015, it was the biggest moment of her life. O’Rourke wished the outgoing Miss Pacific Islands the best in life.

Johnston called on Papua New Guineans to support Kellyanne as the new cultural ambassador.

“We have the biggest population in the region so please support her. You can also make her Miss Internet by visiting the links http://www.misspacificislands.org and voting for Miss Papua New Guinea.”

Kellyanne will be accompanied by the committee of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG, stylist and designer Genevive Igara-Faleva from WANTOK Clothing and choreographer Nadya Parascos.

The PNG Team will stay at the newly completed Taumeasina Island Resort owned by the Lamana Group of companies of Port Moresby.
