Minister for Commerce and Industry, Wera Mori, has stressed that technology and connectivity are extremely important in the Micro Small Medium Enterprises sectors.
Speaking at the MSME Dinner on Monday at the Laguna Hotel, Minister Mori said lack of technological advancement is hindering the progress of Micro Small Medium Enterprises or MSME, to connect and develop rapidly in Papua New Guinea.
He said technology has been the reason that affects the progress of many small entrepreneurs in the country, causing them to search for available opportunities to catch up with the moving trend of entrepreneurship in the global arena.
“Connectivity amongst APEC economies with the rest of the world is vital for a smooth business flow within institutions doing e-commerce,” said Mori.
He added that the National Government is investing more on MSME, as it is the way forward for the economic growth of the country.
“Government is committed to developing the growth of MSME, by supporting and encouraging more industries in the country,” said Minister Mori.
ABAC PNG Alternate member and Chair of the MSME Summit Committee, Stan Joyce, emphasized that ABAC is looking for opportunities to improve small business activities in the country and are encouraging more entrepreneurs to participate in small businesses.
