Trade Commerce andIndustry Minister Richard Maru held a press conference overthe weekend outliningthe development and progress ofthe SME National Policy andthe Master Plan.
Minister Maru’stated that he is satisflied withthe work done so far to formulate a new SME Policy and Master Plan by December 2013.
Withthe Provincial and Regional consultative workshops been completed, Minister Maru is convened thatthe drafting ofthe SME policy will be achievable.
Minister Maru’stated thatthe input from stakeholders throughoutthe country have been remarkable which signifiesthe involvement of people to developthe SME concept in PNG
Maru’said it is vital to consult and takethe views of all stakeholders before formulatingthe policy and Master Plan.
“This plan must never be from Waigani or fromthe ministry; it must be a home grown plan, and an inclusive plan. We must hear fromthe grassroots, we must hear fromthe districts, provinces, government MP’sand all critical stakeholders. So that bythe timethe plan is finished, all of us will havethe ownership ofthe plan,” he said.
Minister Maru concluded thatthe SME Policy will provide a road map to achievethe Vision 2050 goals.
A National Consultative workshop began yesterday for 5-days atthe Gate way hotel in Port Moresby.
