Minister Commends Schools for Responsible act

By Stanley Ove Jr – EMTV News Port Moresby

Education Minister, Nick Kuman, has commended schools throughout the country for handling the May 19 call, for Public Strike, in a responsible manner.

Kuman said in the midst of all the protest education is still the Government’s priority.

Minister Kuman thanked all schools who kept their doors open for students to attend class, saying it was the right thing to do.

Meanwhile, acting Education Secretary, Dr Uke Kombra, shared similar views, saying schools will be notified to close down if situations go out of hand.

“It’s a good sign that they (school children) know that education is important for their future and attending classes is what the Government wants,” Minister Kuman said.

“We will notify schools to close down only when the police tell us to do so,” Kombra said.
