Lionel Messi has been an outstanding footballer since he arrived on the football scene.
Yesterday he was recognised as the best footballer on the Globe at the Soccer Awards in Dubai.
“It’s always beautiful receiving this recognition. Even though the importance is in the team as a whole, this is also beautiful to receive an individual prize, and so I am happy, appreciative, and content to be here,” said Messi after receiving his award.
The best team of the year award was also presented to European champions Barcelona. Accepting the award was club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Messi is also in the running for the 2015 Golden Ball which is an annual association football award given by FIFA to the male player considered to have performed the best in the year.
