Meninga’s Contract Terminated

Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League Chairman, Sandis Tsaka, has said former PNG Kumuls Coach, Mal Meninga, formally dismissed his contract last week.

Tsaka made the announcement yesterday following Meninga’s recent appointment as the Head Coach of the Australian Kangaroos. 

It is understood Meninga breached his contract as PNG Kumuls Coach,  which was supposed to run through to the 2017 World Cup.

The PNGRFL Board has said they will host a meeting next month, to plan and prepare both the men’s and women’s national teams for the 2017 World Cup.

Meanhile, the PNGRFL board has said plans to recruit a new Coach are set for January next year, Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko and PNG Rugby League CEO, Bob Cuttmore have both tipped PNG Hunters Coach Michael Marum for the Kumuls top job as it is time a Papua New Guinean is given this role.
