The Mendi district in the Southern Highlands Province has recently opened a 50-metre long footbridge at Komp Village in the Lai Valley Local Level Government.
Mendi MP, De Kewanu says, bridges have linked people to access other services.
MP Kewanu adds that more bridges will be built to allow the community to access services and create economic opportunities. De Kewanu says, with a whole new level of designing and mobilising locals to build bridges, a lasting legacy is achieved for the community to benefit.
The Department of Works and Implementation have been assisting the District to build 6-bailey bridges for the District.
Nearly K2.4 million has been spent to build bridges in the Mendi Munhiu District.
