By Skola Sengi – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

The 2015 PNG Men’s Snooker Minor Titles are set to begin this evening at Lamana’s Q-Club here in Port Moresby.

Players from both Kavieng and Alotau will take on rivals from Port Moresby for the chance to take home the title.

48 players have been placed in eight pools of six players each, and will take the table in the first round robin match tonight.

“Nominations including those from outside of Port Moresby have exceeded our expectations,” President of PNG Snooker and Billiards Association, John Chan, said.

“The quality of players who have nominated is high and any one of the 48 have a chance of taking out the Minor Title,” Chan added.

2014 Men’s Minor title champion, Emmanuel Kapi, and runner-up, Toua Simoi, have advanced into next week’s Major titles.

Kavieng Open Champion, Marcus Ng, Port Moresby Open winner, Ralph Kaina and 9-time Men’s Major Title defending champion, Djorne Fong have arrived in the nation’s Capital prior the Major titles next week.

The top-16 of the minor titles will be played on Saturday, with the semi-final and grand final will be held on Sunday at Dragons Den.

The winner and runner-up will automatically advance into the Men’s Major Titles.
