Melanesian Aviation Partners

National Flag Carrier, Air Niugini has agreed to partner with two other airlines in the Pacific; Air Vanuatu and Solomon Airlines.

These three airlines will develop and promote partnership in aviation services that can be of beneficial to Melanesian Spear Head Group countries.

Recently at Honiara, Solomon Islands, the three airlines entered into a tri-partite code share arrangement, signing the initial agreement, on the Port Moresby/Honiara/Port Villa route.

Under this agreement, Air Vanuatu and Solomon Airlines will be using Air Niugini’s Fokker 100 aircraft.

Air Niugini’s Corporate Affairs stated that more details of the schedule will be released once the agreement is finalised.

The code share with details yet to be agreed upon, will form the basis of further corporation and other similar arrangements to promote aviation amongst the Melanesian Spear Head Group.

The three airlines have agreed to work in unison to assist and promote better understanding, partnership and generally promote the ideals of the Melanesian Spearhead Group in the airline industry.

It’s intended this service will commence by June this year.
