Marine Expert: Destructive fishing reduces fish species

A marine expert says Papua New Guinea needs to reserve lagoons to breed fish, preserving them from extinction.

Germany’s fish curator Dr Ronald Fricke speaking at the Biodiversity Expedition forum in Madang, says destructive fishing, is reducing the number of fish species.

Dr Fricke added that PNG’s unique biodiversity is greatly threatened by various human activities.
