By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC) Managing Director, Augustine Mano, was arrested by police upon arrival on Monday at the Jackson International Airport. Mr Mano’s phone was confiscated and he was brought to Boroko Police Station for interrogation.

3 hours after being detained at the Boroko Police Station, Mr Mano was released on K5, 000 bail. Mr Mano says his arrest is not related to the management and administration of the MRDC. “My arrest has no relation or has nothing to do with the operations of MRDC,” said Mano.

Mano was charged on one count of harassing and threatening of Philip Kende. Mr Kende and Mr Mano had exchanged text messages via WhatsApp. Their exchange of messages was alleged by Mr Kende as threatening and harassing.

Mr Mano says he will defend himself in court once the date is set. He was arrested and charged under Section 23 A,B,C under the Cyber Crime Act 2016.

Mano denied the allegations and said the allegations are baseless and believe people have framed him.
