Government representatives from Malaysia’s Ministry of Youth and Sport were inthe country last week, to share ideas on youth development inthe country.
They met with youth development institutions inthe country to discuss possible areas of co-operation.
The visit is part ofthe Malaysian Governments Technical Co-operation Program.
The three member delegation accompanlied by Malaysian High Commissioner Datin Olberry, met with National Youth Commissioner Norit Luio and stakeholders to discuss possible areas of partnership.
The delegation shared some experiences of youth development which could be relevant tPNG.
Mrs Olberry said while Malaysia anPNG’shared economic and trade ties, youth development is something new which could fostered.
Team Leader ofthe delegation Vimalan Muthupandian says Malaysia has a very strong youth moverment. And fromtheir experiences in developing such a moverment,they wish to share with ther countries, particularly inthe Asia-Pacific Region.
PNG Youth Commissioner Norti Luio saidthe Commission is embarking on establishing a legislative framework to have a long term approach to addressing youth’s problems.
And this possible co-operation could enhance that framework.
Fromthe discussions held, both parties have proposed an MOU signing to solidifythe partnership betweenthe two governments.
