Made From Cassava

SP Brewery has launched its newest product onto the market, a beverage made from cassava starch.

The new product is set to attract local participation of starch markets.

Chief Executive Officer for SP Brewery, Stan Joyce, was confident the company’s new revenue maker is set to attract lots of local cassava sellers.

The product is produced from ingredients obtained from cassava starch, a new addition to SP Brewery.

It’s not only a new money-maker for the company but also for subsistence farmers.

Local farmer, Sam Ifid, says there have been no good markets for food crops like cassava.

“Our problem is market. Though there are agriculture activities by few stakeholders, there haven’t been enough markets. SP Brewery has partnered with us directly and we see good crop markets ahead,” Ifid said.

With the market now being open, it will help generate income.

The new product further shows that the company is focused in supporting commercial opportunities for local cassava farmers.

Partnerships between SP Brewery and local communities near Morobe’s Huon Gulf area are underway to maintain a continuous supply of cassava.
