By Raphaella Kaore – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea Men’s number one squash player, Madako Suari Jr, has been appointed Team Manager by the PNG Olympic Committee for the code of squash at the upcoming Youth Commonwealth Games in Apia, Samoa.

With his participation in the recent Pacific Games, Madako had the chance to train and play alongside Robin Morove and Lynette Vai. His added experience will prove useful to guide and manage the junior athletes.

Suari Jnr was part of the 2015 Pacific Games and represented PNG in the men’s division, winning gold at the games.

He describes his role as a mentor and friend to the rest of his fellow athletes. He said, he would carry out his responsibilities as a team manager and will work closely with the two young athletes.

He said although the sport of squash has less interest than other such as rugby league, there is great potential in reviving the code of squash in PNG thanks in part to their achievements and success at the recent Pacific Games.
