MacDonald Selected For Emerging QLD Maroons Squad

by Jaylee Sapias – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinean born Nene MacDonald has proven yet again to be one of the best this country has produced.

Following his recent selection in the World All Stars team by Wayne Bennett, MacDonald was named yesterday in the Emerging QLD Maroons squad; players recognised as potential State of Origin players.

The 21-year-old, who joins 19 other players from 10 different NRL clubs, will go into training at the end of this month at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre in Brisbane under the guidance of new Maroons Coach, Kevin Walters.

Walters said the emerging squad was a ‘great concept’ that had played an essential role in Queensland’s origin success over many years.

MacDonald, who currently plays for the Gold Coast Titans, will join the Emerging Maroons squad on January 29 and will train until the 31st before he prepares for the All Stars fixture next month.
