Representatives from the Small to Medium Vanilla Exporters in East Sepik have embraced the Third APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM3) to establish network to expand the future of their Vanilla Industry in the province.

Representative Philemon Minilisit says the opportunities are endless and one must take the first step to network and forge partnerships.

“Our goals are to provide to the world the organic Vanilla produce to support our rural vanilla growers to get optimum benefits and strive in meeting external markets demands through marketing channels that we are now pursing to establish,” says Minilisit.

He also revealed that the joy of cultivating organic vanilla and actively involved in getting to meet the quality standards of processing vanilla beans to achieve optimum vanilla content per vanilla has been their utmost desire.

Minilisit also highlighted unfair trade activities with third party buyers over the PNG-Indonesia border which has caused local farmers to lose the end of their bargains.

And hoped that this issue would be addressed soon after the Food Security Meeting is over.
