Leaders want Air Niugini to resume Mendi flights

LLeadersin Southern Highlands Province want Air Niugini to resume flights to Mendi inthe New Year 2013.

Sincethe cancellation of flights in October last year, people had to travel to Mt Hagen to board an Air Niugini flight.

SHP Disaster Coordinator Martin Pat and Provincial Police Commander ChiefInspector Sibron Papoto saythe Airport has now been fenced andthe runway maintained duringthe last three months.

They also arrested and charged 14 people illegally crossingthe runway and saythey are ready to work with Air Niugini to prevent any future disruptions.
