Lewas Confident They Will Retain Top Spot

In cricket, the CPL PNG Lewas squad are confident they will retain their top spot in the region at the International Cricket Council (ICC) East Asia Pacific (EAP) Regional Women’s Qualifier tournament in Apia, Samoa.

Led by Captain Pauke Siaka, the team resumed training this week in preparation for the qualifiers from July 15-22.

As Captain, a focused Siaka gave her assurance that the squad is confident thanks to its preparations.

Currently ranked number one, they are determined to maintain their top spot in the East Asia Pacific Region.

The squad also has three debutants; Geathie Kilpat, Hinamutawa Philip and Daniella Ila from Popondeta, Miline Bay and Morobe Cricket Associations respectively.

Senior player Tanya Ovasuro is out on maternity leave.

The team leaves for Samoa on July 12.
